LGBTQ+ partnership
Introduction
Voscur is creating a new partnership of LGBTQ+ community organisations in Bristol.
Our vision
Our vision is to support LGBTQ+ community organizations to create thriving, well- funded and cohesive services for the LGBTQ+ community locally.
The LGBTQ+ partnership aims to strategically and systematically strengthen LGBTQ+ community organisations and build provision for Bristol’s LGBTQ+ community.
Our plan
Our initial research shows that there are only a handful of formal organizations for the LGBTQ+ community that are run by members of the LGBTQ+ community, and some services provided for the LGBTQ+ community.
Additionally, there are many informal groups that are run by specialist parts of the community. (‘Formal’ organisations include registered charities, community interest companies. ‘Informal’ groups would include, for example, groups enabled by social media that have a less formal structure).
As the LGBTQ+ community is facing increasing rates of hate crime, some LGBTQ+ community organisations have closed in recent years and services to the LGBTQ+ community are underfunded. Amongst the existing groups and organisations, there is some collaboration and we intend to bring together a new partnership that will support services, provide a strategic, unified voice, share knowledge, and create community cohesion.
Steering Group
The LGBTQ+ partnership currently has an interim steering group, which consists of the following members:

How to get involved
Voscur is currently inviting people from Bristol’s LGBTQ+ community organisations to join us to develop a wider partnership focussed on supporting the LGBTQ+ community.
Are you involved with a voluntary, charitable or grassroots/community organisation that hosts events, runs sessions, provides services or advocates for LGBTQ+ people?
If so, please tell us about your organisation or group and the work you do and we will include your organisation/group in developing the Bristol LGBTQ+ VCSE Partnership.
Funding
This project is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund; thank you to National Lottery players for your support.
