Our History
Voscur has been working with Bristol’s voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations for over 25 years – we are established as the support and development agency for the local sector.
We recognise our role as an enabler and upholder of change and transformation, having operated in our current form since 2000.
Voscur initially stood for Voluntary Organisations Standing Conference on Urban Regeneration. While we don’t use that anymore, people know the name ‘Voscur’ well, so we have kept it!
More recent history:
In October 2020 Voscur amended the organisation’s articles of association to widen its area of assistance beyond the city limits, and now operates in benefit of the whole South-West region, recognising the many member organisations that operate within Bristol as well as other areas.
Over its lifetime, Voscur has developed successful practices, refining expertise and innovation through decades of sector experience. As a community of experts, our courses, advice and relationships provide organisations with the help needed to drive positive change and transformation.
We work with organisations to enable them to improve practices, policy and strategy, and to secure necessary funding and other resources. At our heart is the goal to strengthen social infrastructures, and we perpetually strive to ensure collaboration and capability throughout the sector, to best support front-facing services to deliver their goals.
