The Role

The Team Leader will provide leadership, coaching and management of a team delivering criminal justice interventions to service users referred by the police across multiple police force areas. The post holder will ensure practice standards are achieved and provide oversight on all interventions delivered. The post holder will also establish, develop, and strengthen working relationships with a variety of partner agencies. The team leader will be required to represent RISE when meeting with external commissioners and key stakeholders. This post will take forward the Projects to a successful outcome

 

Responsibilities

Line management:

· Provide line management supervision, oversight, and support to a team of practitioners across multiple contracts, delivery sites and regions.

· Cover as required for the Service Manager, in their absence.

· Develop and recognise effective staff performance, providing coaching/supervision/ mentoring/ appraisal.

· Implement and utilise HR policies to manage staff related issues, addressing poor performance when required.

· Competent in defensible decision making, recording and being held accountable

· Show initiative in tackling issues within the service and in relation to other agencies.

· Write regular performance monitoring reports, attend performance review meetings.

· Co-ordinate the scheduling of staff and manage day to day scheduling issues and cover needs, e.g. related to sickness absence, etc.

· Quality assure the delivery of practitioners and provide constructive feedback and coaching in relation to areas for development.

· Provide workshops and training on key themes, including working with domestic abuse.

 

Working with external stakeholders:

· Represent the service at meetings; deliver training and presentations as required.

· Be confident to promote RISE’s products to external stakeholders, including the theories and approaches used.

· Be able to travel to different regions as required.

· Act as a champion for the implementation and development of new projects.

· Create strong partnership links with local services.

· Effective understanding and implementation of institutional advocacy by pro-socially challenging partner agencies, acknowledging best practice and striving for change to benefit the individual, the service, and the sector.

· Support other professionals in responding to service users in a way that is coterminous with the aims and ethos of the services we provide.

 

Service Delivery:

· Deliver interventions, undertaking group, 1:1 work, assessments and reports. Interventions include domestic abuse perpetrator, hate crime, emotional management, as well as multiple other courses linked to offending behaviours.

· Support the Service Manager to adapt interventions based on feedback and observation of delivery.

· Use initiative to make decisions to ensure continuity of service delivery.

· Develop excellent relationships with our customers, responding to their needs.

· Promote high standards of service delivery and lead on internal audits to ensure the quality assurance framework is adhered to.

· Support the day-to-day delivery of key projects.

· Maintain clear records of work undertaken and ensure programme integrity.

· Establish and maintain methods to monitor suitability and risk assessments and risk management of cases.

· Undertake live monitoring and regular auditing of our criminal justice interventions to ensure integrity of delivery

 

Recording and administration:

· Ensure records are accurate and complete and are kept and in compliance with Data Protection Act requirements.

 

Meeting KPIs:

· Liaise and share important information with relevant stakeholders and partners to ensure an integrated approach to performance and risk management.

· Contribute and provide data as part of monthly or quarterly performance monitoring returns.

 

Skills required:

•Team leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.

•Knowledge and experience of working with people who have perpetrated domestic abuse, and of working with individuals with complex needs.

• Have excellent interpersonal skills.

•Ability to work under own initiative and problem solve effectively.

•Ability to work as part of a team.

• Good relationship management regarding multi-agency work that incorporates sensitivity, responsiveness, and attention to the promotion of congruent and effective partnership working.

• IT skills, including use of Microsoft Office.

• Support and guide your service users and have excellent advisory, negotiation & persuasive skills.

• Ability to lead and facilitate discussions to achieve positive outcomes.

• Reflection and self-awareness.

• Excellent organisational skills including the ability to record information effectively and consistently.

• Excellent networking skills and the ability to develop strong working relationships with other agencies.

• Confidence in own decision making and in supporting others to achieve effective outcomes.

Qualification & Experience

• Hold a relevant degree, a vocational qualification or equivalent experience in working with domestic abuse perpetrators, safeguarding, criminal justice field, policing, social care or other field where experience of working with high level need and/or offending can be demonstrated.

• Good level of experience of managing cases, delivering interventions, and writing and presenting information in this context.

• Experience of supervising, coaching and leading teams.

• Comprehensive experience of multi-agency working and forging successful partnership arrangements

• Direct work with domestic abuse perpetrators, victims, disadvantaged groups, and high-level need service users, and/or offenders.

• Comprehensive understanding in managing safeguarding issues and procedures and risk management of offenders.

• Working within legislative frameworks and using this application to develop, influence and encourage partnership working.
