The Person

We have recently reset our Housing Management team and we have an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering high quality services to enable clients with complex needs to move towards recovery.  Supporting the Team Manager, you will have significant knowledge of housing, the support needs of people who have experienced multiple disadvantage, and experience of developing and leading high performing teams. You’ll work in a psychologically and trauma informed way and be able to develop culture of reflective problem solving and shared learning.  With a strong background in housing management, you will build and develop meaningful relationships with key partners and stakeholders in line with Second Step’s values.

 

The Role

The aim of the Senior Housing Worker is to support the Team Manager to ensure that our Housing Management Team runs effectively and to a high standard on a day to day basis, meeting targets as agreed with ASL partners, Local Authority Commissioners, the Service Manager and the Senior Operations Manager.  This includes:

 

Assisting the Team Manager to coordinate and deliver an effective housing management service for Second Step managed properties, with a sensitivity to tenants with mental health support needs

Providing housing management advice to the organisation, support staff and tenants in line with legislation and good practice

Leading on ensuring that compliance and repairs targets are met

Providing leadership to Housing Workers, leading on recruitment, induction, training, support and appraisal of team members – including ensuring objectives and targets are met and addressing any underperformance

Communicating effectively and efficiently with team members, RSLs and other partner agencies, to ensure that a quality housing management service is provided according to the needs of tenants and Second Step

Promoting and facilitate service user involvement within the organisation and the community in line with Second Step objectives

Assisting the Team Manager to monitor and evaluate the service, and implement changes in line with best practice, in order to maximise service performance, meeting targets and SLA’s

Contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures in accordance with legislation and recognised best practice

Ensuring clients and staff feel safe and supported

Cultivating a culture of hope and courage

Second Step provides a variety of accommodation-based services as part of the Bristol City Council commissioned Pathways, as well as multiple other housing related services. Currently accommodation-based services are located in Bristol, however, Second Step has services throughout the South West.
