The role:

This is an exciting opportunity to join a team dedicated to reducing drug and alcohol-related harms in Bristol. Engagement team members operate an open-access drop-in 6 days a week, needle and syringe provision, provide naloxone and blood-borne virus testing, support a variety of partner organisations and are regularly involved in research projects.

You will be able to build a rapport quickly and be passionate about getting the best out of people. You will have excellent organisational skills and be able to manage a busy diary in a job where no two days are the same

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide evidence-based interventions to service users to reduce drug and alcohol-related harm.
  • Facilitate access to treatment for people who want to make changes to their use of alcohol and/or other drugs.
  • Reduce barriers to treatment for groups underrepresented in Bristol’s drug and alcohol treatment system.
  • Deliver training for service users and professionals across Bristol.

What we are looking for:

  • Strong engagement skills, demonstrating flexibility, persistence and imagination in engaging service users.

  • Confidence in setting boundaries and working with people experiencing emotional dysregulation.

  • Ability to liaise effectively with other organisations, including GPs and other health professionals.
  • A profound belief in an individual’s capacity for change and an ability to motivate others to change.
  • A commitment to reducing harm caused by substance use to individuals, families and communities.
