JOB PURPOSE
To support all students to successfully transition into college and provide ongoing pastoral interventions to promote positive engagement and progress on their programme of study.
To work with an identified caseload of students with additional support needs and those with EHCPs to ensure effective pastoral support is delivered and relevant documentation is upheld in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
To work collaboratively with the wider student services and individual teaching teams to implement effective processes which promote early intervention and ongoing systems for monitoring student engagement, attendance and retention.
JOB DESCRIPTION
PASTORAL SUPPORT
To support the gathering of relevant transitional information for students identified as having an additional support need.
To support individualised programmes of transition for students as required such as additional visits, taster sessions, ongoing parental liaison etc.
To support the transition cycle for students moving from Further Education into Higher Education, liaising with the identified HE pastoral worker to ensure appropriate planning and support is in place for students moving onto university level courses.
To work collaboratively with other staff in the student services team and curriculum staff to identify students who require pastoral provision.
To initiate and engage in collaborative working across multiple external agencies as required; acting as the Lead Professional where necessary
To facilitate mentoring and social skills sessions for students who require this as part of their EHCP or have been identified as needing further intervention.
To work closely with relevant external agencies to signpost students on to further support services.
To maintain an ongoing record of support for students which tracks the impact and progression within mentoring sessions.
To manage safeguarding disclosures or pastoral concerns sensitively, providing effective crisis management as appropriate.
To develop and contribute towards systems for monitoring student need, progress and strategies for learning in the classroom environment.
To work closely with the Attendance and Exams officer to identify students who are at risk of disengagement, low attendance or withdrawal from college.
To provide ongoing student and family liaison to those flagged as a concern by the Attendance and Exams officer.
OTHER ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
To coordinate the referral system for our partnership with Family Based Solutions, documenting initial assessment and evidence of referrals for the practitioners.
To develop an effective triage process working in collaboration with the attendance and exams officer to ensure we have a robust tracking system for students at risk of disengagement, low attendance or withdrawal from college.
In collaboration with the Student Services Team, support the assessment of prospective student information and contribute to any outcomes determined by this.
In collaboration with the Student Services Team keep accurate records of Student Leaver Forms and process NEET referrals.
To oversee the tracking process for individual attendance and course progression, working in collaboration with the Attendance & Exams officer.
