Location:

Details of Role:

Help turn pennies into pounds for Bristol A.R.C. We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to help us place and maintain collection tins in and around Bristol (in our RSPCA Branch area).

We are hoping to find passionate people who can get local shops and businesses on board to ‘adopt’ one or more of our “pawesome” collection tins. Venues that might adopt a tin could include pubs, post offices, newsagents, local supermarkets, coffee shops, garden centres, local pets shops – anywhere where there is a good footfall of people, and a suitable place to place a tin.

For every tin you can help get ‘adopted’ by local businesses and groups, you are supporting us to raise awareness and vital funds for the animals we care for.

What will I be doing?

  • Researching and recording local businesses who could ‘adopt’ one or more of our collection tins through internet searches, going door-to-door in your area, telephoning or emailing enquiries
  • Distributing collection tins to shops and businesses who have agreed to ‘adopt’ a tin
  • Checking in with collection tin holders, keeping in touch and answering enquiries via email, in person or over the phone
  • Assisting in writing and sending of ‘Thank You’ letters and certificates, and making in-person visits
  • Emptying and recording donations from collection tins and passing funds and receipts to Bristol A.R.C. (if travel to our site is an issue, we may be able to assist with collecting from you)

What skills and qualities would be useful in this role?

  • Confidence in talking to people in shops and local business, in person and over the phone
  • Good knowledge of your local area (within the RSPCA Bristol Branch area)
  • Reasonable numeracy skills
  • A valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle of your own could be advantageous (but not essential) for this role
  • Ability to use a computer, with fairly good IT skills and a willingness to learn to use our database / Google docs and Microsoft Office suite (if you are able to commit to that part of the role)
  • Enthusiasm with a willingness to learn and volunteer as part of a dedicated team
  • Passion for animal welfare, Bristol A.R.C. and our work
  • Willingness to be an ambassador for Bristol Animal Rescue Centre when volunteering for us

What’s in it for me?

  • The opportunity to work alongside an experienced and passionate fundraising team
  • We hope you’ll find it rewarding helping to raise funds to support the animals we care for
  • A chance to meet like-minded people, and have fun, whilst volunteering with us, (this can also be a great role to do with a friend!)
  • An opportunity to build experience, gain new skills, and learn knowledge about animal rescue
  • You’ll receive volunteer communications and be invited to our annual volunteer events

What else might I need to know?

  • You will be given a volunteer uniform to wear for each shift
  • Email is our preferred method of staying in touch with volunteers – but please let us if you want to discuss an alternative means of communication
  • All volunteers at Bristol A.R.C. will need to complete training with our Volunteer Coordinator, and role specific training with the role Volunteer Supervisor
  • We ask that all Bristol Animal Rescue Centre employees and volunteers have a personal commitment to the aims and values of the charity

If you are interested in applying to volunteer for us, we would be thrilled to hear a bit more yourself and what you feel you could bring to the role. Many thanks indeed.
