Details of Role:

Friends of Eastville Park is delighted to be seeking 3 Trustees to join this young and ambitious charity board at an exciting stage in our journey. We are drawing to the end of our second full year of running projects as a charity and we have demonstrated our ability to deliver significant impact for our community.

For example, we have fundraised over £350,000 of improvements for Eastville Park, providing upgrades to existing facilities and improving the park for the benefit of everyone who visits.

We have recently been granted funding for paid roles to provide a weekly older people’s group, plus 2 additional activity sessions to combat loneliness and isolation in the community. We collaborate with many organisations such as Bristol City Council, Your Park, Bristol Parks Forum, Friday Food Club, and Parkwork to ensure our local park has the funds and facilities to be a thriving city park.

We're now ready to grow our impact to help more people in Eastville and surrounding neighbourhoods experience the overwhelming benefits of Eastville Park.

Why we need you

We are looking for people who are passionate about the potential of Eastville Park and want everyone to experience the benefits of visiting their local green space. As part of the role of Trustee you will use your experiences to help guide our direction, hold us to account, promote our work and safeguard our reputation.

You do not need to have prior experience of being a Trustee or experience working with boards. We will provide training to fully induct you into the role and you will be buddied up with one of our longer standing trustees to support you in your first 6 months.

Although we are keen to hear from anybody who thinks they have useful skills to contribute, we are particularly looking for people who have some of the following skills and expertise:

  • Lived experience of the barriers to spending time in parks
  • Fundraising and grant application experience
  • Community engagement and/or development
  • Personal networks of benefit to Friends of Eastville Park e.g. under served community contacts within the Eastville and nearby

You must be over 18 to be a trustee, not currently serving and conviction, and must not have filed for bankruptcy. A full disclosure and barring service (DBS) check will be performed on all successful applicants prior to appointment.

Inclusion & Diversity

Our beneficiaries come from all walks of life but right now our team of 9 is mostly made up of white people. We want to hire great people from a wide variety of backgrounds because it makes us stronger and provides valuable perspectives. If you share our values and our enthusiasm for access to Eastville Park for everyone, you will find a home here.

We’re particularly interested in receiving applications from young adults 18+, who who are from ethnically diverse backgrounds, who are living with a disability, or are from low-income households.
