Job Overview

We're excited to expand our face-to-face listening support with a new stationary location in the heart of Broadmead. Our Mental Health Responders currently provide immediate listening, signposting, and advocacy support on foot as a mobile service. This new space will serve as a safe haven for a much-needed listening hub in the center of Bristol. Be part of something life-changing for our community.

The Listening Hub Manager will responsible for overseeing the operations of the walk-in listening hub. The role involves creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for all visitors. The Manager will lead a team of volunteers, ensuring that they are supported in providing high-quality listening and guidance services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Management:
    • Manage day-to-day operations of the walk-in listening hub during volunteer hours.
    • Ensure the hub is a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all visitors.
    • Coordinate schedules and manage the rota for volunteers to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Provide ongoing support, guidance, and development opportunities for volunteers.
    • Conduct debriefing sessions to ensure effective communication and support.
  • Client Support:
    • Oversee the delivery of listening services to ensure high standards of care.
    • Be available to handle complex or high-risk situations, providing direct support as needed.
    • Maintain confidentiality and a non-judgmental approach in all interactions.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Promote the listening hub services within the local community to raise awareness and encourage utilisation.
    • Develop and maintain relationships with local mental health organisations, community groups, and other stakeholders.
    • Represent the charity at community events and meetings as required.
  • Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate records of client interactions and hub activities.
    • Prepare regular reports on hub operations and client outcomes for the Services Manager/CEO.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the listening hub services.
    • Implement improvements based on feedback from clients, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
    • Ensure all volunteers adhere to the charity’s standards and guidelines.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Essential:
    • Proven experience within the mental health or community support sector.
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
    • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to volunteer on selected days/times which suit youconsistently for reliability.  
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Desirable:
    • Able to attend Training in mental health first aid or a similar program.
    • Experience in volunteer management and support or desire to learn and develop.
