Join us this summer to support children to prepare and cook their own lunch.

We run a free Family Café for children on free school meals in Barton Hill and Fishponds.

We provide all the ingredients for children to cook a delicious lunch for themselves and their family. We just need your support to encourage the children and help with the practicalities.

Barton Hill

Monday 29th July 1 - 5pm
Weds 31st July 10.30 – 2pm
Mon 5th August 9.30 - 11.30am
Weds 7th August 10.30 – 2pm
Mon 12th August Trip 9 - 11am
Weds 14th August 10.30 – 2pm
Mon 19th August 1 - 5pm
Weds 21st August 11.30 – 2pm

We’re looking for volunteers that can help chop vegetables, support children with cooking and washing up.

Fishponds

Volunteers needed
Tuesday 30th July 2 - 6pm
Thursday 1st August 2 - 6pm
Tuesday 6th  August 2 - 6pm
Thursday 8th August 2 - 6pm
Tuesday 13th August 12 – 3.30pm (note different times)
Thursday 15th August 2 - 6pm
Tuesday 20th August 2 - 6pm
Thursday 22nd August 2 - 6pm

We’re looking for volunteers that can:

  • help chop vegetables, support children with cooking and washing up or
  • support children with crafts or
  • support children with play activities

You can select the shifts that you are available. We run each school holiday so you can volunteer just for the summer or beyond.
 

Skills:

 

 

  • A positive and practical attitude towards bringing a nutritional meal to children
  • Previous experience of working in a kitchen is ideal
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate well with people from various backgrounds
  • Ability to work within and apply boundaries
  • Reliable and punctual to attend the shifts committed to
  • Ability to be patient and understanding
  • Ability to take initiative as well as encourage others
  • Ability to be flexible and work according to the needs of the team
