As part of National Trustees' Week, Voscur is holding this free conference for Trustees to engage with the challenges and opportunities of the present landscape and to network with others.

What is this event about?

This online event is an opportunity to celebrate boards working through unprecedented times, and support trustees to deliver the leadership and governance our sector needs today. Get practical help and food for thoughts about funding, mergers, diversity and inclusion, managing change and using pro bono specialists!

Who is the course for?

All trustees, new or experienced, with or without portfolio, in small and larger organisations across the sector.

Read the full programme - see the attached document above. There will be keynote speakers covering topics such as being a trustee, celebrating the richness of the sector, change and challenge and merger experiences.

There will be two workshop blocks with a choice of three sessions in each. Workshops include: Managing Change – responding to the crisis, Board Diversity, Accessing Pro Bono work, Employment Law and more!

The list of speakers so far include:

  • Kamaljit Poonia, Voscur Trustee, Consultant and Coach. Kamaljit has worked across a wide range of sectors including local government, councils, and the cabinet office.
  • Will Bee, Chair of Wellspring Settlement. Will also works with Quartet Community Foundation and has a background working in disability rights.
  • John Stienlet, co-ordinates Bristol’s City Funds Pro Bono brokerage, which connects businesses and the voluntary sector to share skills and resources in the city.
  • Manu Maunganidze. Project Director - Nature Youth Connection and Education CIC
  • Tim Temple, Funding Officer at National Lottery Community Fund
  • Anne Marie, Menzies Law
  • And of course Voscur’s Learning & Development team!

What else do you need to know?

To take part you will need a laptop with a camera, microphone, and Wi-Fi. You will not require any additional software. You will be emailed an invitation with a link to join the online training prior to the course. The course is free but we do operate a £25 cancellation fee if you do not follow our cancellation policy and let us know 2 weeks before the conference if you cannot attend (this policy will be emailed to you when booking).

Voscur is running all training online, due to the ongoing public health situation with coronavirus (COVID-19). This decision was taken in line with local and national health advice, and to safeguard the health of our attendees and staff. We are aware that many VCSE organisations in the city are focusing their efforts on providing and changing their services to respond to communities. For more information about coronavirus, see https://www.voscur.org/content/covid19-service-users.
