Convincing funders and investors of the need for your organisation’s work is increasingly challenging. This course looks at how best to make use of the data that is available to you and what you can collect to make your case. Dr Lorna Henry is a Voscur Associate and an evaluator and consultant with experience as a researcher in the education, health, social care and community sectors. She is the evaluator and critical friend for the SPAN History Project which is based at Wellspring Settlement.

Please note this course is in two parts and by booking a place you are booking for both days, to complete the course you have to attend both sessions. The course runs 9.30am-12.30pm on the 21 & 22 May.

Understanding and presenting evidence of the need for your organisation and its work.

What will you learn?

This course will enable you to:

  • Be able to identify what kind of evidence for need is required
  • Be able to find a range of relevant data
  • Be able to select and analyse information to support a case
  • Be able to identify what additional data might be needed
  • Understand the challenges and opportunities in methods of collecting data to show evidence of need

What else do you need to know?

Please bring your own data sets or organisational info, business plan etc. After the first day’s session, participants will be given a research or note taking task which will take 30- 50 minutes to complete.

To take part you will need a laptop with a camera, microphone, and Wi-Fi. You will not require any additional software. You will be emailed an invitation with a link to join the online training prior to the course.

This course is now free of charge as Voscur are currently offering free courses to support the VCSE sector during this challenging time.

Voscur has had to cancel face to face training events due to the ongoing public health situation with coronavirus (or COVID-19). This decision was taken in line with local and national health advice, and to safeguard the health of our attendees and staff. We are aware that many VCSE organisations in the city are focusing their efforts on providing and changing their services to respond to communities.
