The Society of Merchant Venturers charity has a range of grants available to organisations that benefit people in the greater Bristol area. Grants are typically between £500-5,000.

Your organisation should address one or more of the following needs:

  • Culture and the arts
  • Economic development of Bristol (through projects)
  • Educational activities and initiatives
  • Environment
  • Health care
  • Social enterprise
  • Social needs - tackling homelessness and unemployment; crime prevention
  • Youth - increase employability and skills; support training not based in educational environments

Your organisation doesn't have to be a registered charity, but it must meet other criteria mentioned in the application guidelines. Statutory organisations aren't usually eligible.

Grants can be spent on capital equipment or ongoing costs, but it's unlikely they would be awarded to cover existing staff costs.

Applications close at 5pm on Wednesday 18 September 2019.

To discuss your application before you submit it, please contact Julie Newman at Quartet Community Foundation on 0117 989 7700. For more information on these grants, please click here
