Role title: Session Support Volunteer

Location:

Stanley's Garden, Lawrence Rd, BS22 6TU, Worle, Weston-super-Mare

Time:

Tuesdays

10:15 - 12:15

Purpose of the role: Supporting older participants and those living with dementia to engage with nature-based and reflective activities and each other during ‘Wellbeing in Nature’ sessions at Stanley's Garden, Worle

What you will be doing:

Helping set up resources and materials for activities

Supporting participants socially and with nature-based activities

Passing on any queries or issues to project leaders

Helping us create a warm, welcoming atmosphere

Focus lies on improving participants’ wellbeing

Helping pack away at the end of a session

What you could get out of it:

The good feeling of making someone’s day better

Connecting with the local community and meeting other like-minded volunteers

Learning/improving your gardening and social skills and learning more about the connection between nature and wellbeing

Learning more about dementia and other illnesses and disabilities

Experiencing the benefits of mindfully spending time in nature

Exercise and spending time outside

A sense of pride from helping to make a difference

A reference or job experience
