Volunteers' Week is the annual celebration of, and expression of gratitude for, volunteers across the country. Running from 1st-7th June, the week offers an opportunity to say thanks to our volunteers, and advocate for volunteering as a fulfilling and vital service.
There are several ways to get involved. Can Do Bristol have once again put together their Wall of Thanks - a collection of dedications to our local volunteers. You can look out on social media for #VolunteersWeek, and find official graphics for the week here.
At Voscur, we will be publishing a series of Spotlight articles, shining a light on the brilliant work of volunteers in Bristol. These will be published in the news section of our website, and shared on our social media.
Our CEO, Rebecca Mear has described in more detail below Voscur's thinking as we head into Volunteers' Week 2023:
"Volunteers are the unsung heroes of civic life; the fact is that many of Bristol's community organisations would cease to operate without them. Volunteers' Week provides an opportunity to thank the local volunteers whose generous contribution - of their skills, experience, time and commitment - makes our society a thriving one.
Through calm and crisis, volunteers provide dedicated support and expertise for the benefit of the people and communities of Bristol.
For Volunteers' Week this year, we celebrate everyone who volunteers, in whatever shape that takes. We know that volunteering rates in England are at an all-time low as a result of the pandemic (and the Cost of Living crisis) and so we at Voscur will play our part in ensuring that volunteering remains a fulfilling and enriching experience for those willing and able to take part.
At Voscur, we promote a range of volunteering opportunities through our website and the Can Do website. If you would like to find out more about volunteering, take a look at the diverse range of opportunities out there!”
