Volunteer at Independent People
YES delivers Maths and English learning programmes to young people aged 16-25. 1625ip support young people aged 16 - 25 who are at risk of becoming homeless or are already homeless. We house and support young people to build independent lives.
All our Volunteers are looked after as part of the VIP scheme. Our aim is to make sure everyone gets something out of your volunteering experience; you, us, and the people we support.
The YES team at 1625ip are looking for a Learning Assistant, who will support a class tutor in a maths class on Tuesdays mornings (9:30-12:30) in term time.
The volunteer position would be suitable for someone who is looking to develop their 1 to 1 or small group work skills, perhaps pursue a career in education, or social care. We ask for a minimum commitment of 6 months and will provide a comprehensive induction and ongoing training.
Requirements:
An ability to get alongside young people who have barriers to learning, being flexible, positive and encouraging at all times. A GCSE-equivalent Maths qualification would be desirable, not essential.
