Join our Board
Our voluntary board member opportunities are exciting and influential roles within Second Step. Our board vacancies provide strategic guidance in accordance with our vision, aims and values. The role of a board member can be demanding but is always incredibly rewarding. These are great opportunities for people keen to offer their skills and experience to make a real contribution to a vibrant and growing not for profit organisation.
Our roots are in Bristol, where we have worked for over 30 years, now our reach is across the South West of England, with ambitions further afield. We support more than 1,000 people at any one time. We form strong, collaborative relationships with the people who use our services, supporting them through difficult times and helping them discover new ways to become more independent and resilient.
We currently have three vacancies on the Board. If you have the knowledge, skills and experience at a senior level in finance, the leadership of service delivery, primary care, health and social care, equality or housing then please do get in touch. We don’t mind if you haven’t got a background in the mental health sector just as long as you share our vision and can show you’re ready willing and able to make a positive and lasting contribution to Second Step.
Following on from successful tenders and extending our services into Somerset we are keen to hear from applicants that live or work in Somerset with relevant experience and contacts. We are looking for these new members to offer advice and support in our extension into this new regional area.
We are also looking for two current or past users of mental health services to strengthen our Board. Ideally you will have had experience of using Second Step services, if not you will have experience of using other similar services. You will be a valued member of the Board with the ability to use your own experience and expertise to contribute to Second Step strategies and future plans. Support and training can be provided and will be tailored to your needs and current skills.
If you would appreciate an informal discussion or require any further information, please contact Sue Manning, Forest HR, who are supporting us with this recruitment, on 07939 269612 or email@example.com.
Second Step is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applicants from all sections of the community. We also welcome applications from people who have personal experience of using mental health services.
