An opportunity to help make life better for Carers in Bristol and South Gloucestershire
Treasurer and Trustee Vacancy
Carers Support Centre (CSC) Bristol and South Gloucestershire is a well-established and highly respected local charity providing a wide range of information, advice and support services for unpaid carers of all ages.
A carer is someone who provides support to family or friends who could not manage without this help. This could be caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse issues. All the care they give is unpaid.
CSC has been the leading provider of support to carers for over 20 years and we are acknowledged both locally and nationally, as experts in our field. All of the services we provide are developed in response to clearly identified local needs and we take very seriously the need to listen and respond to, the (changing) needs of those who access our services.
We are seeking to replace our Treasurer who has moved on, after making a significant contribution in the role over the last three years. The person we are seeking will share our strong commitment and desire to improve the lives of carers accessing our services and will become a pro-active member of our board of trustees.
The role of Treasurer with CSC is to work in close co-operation with, and provide support and advice to, the Finance Manager. The successful candidate will guide and advise the board of trustees on all matters relating to the financial administration of CSC, the approval of budgets, accounts and financial statements, within a relevant financial policy framework. The role offers a number of development opportunities across a range of areas. For example, the current incumbent has gained significant experience of charity finance, VAT in the third sector, risk management and investments.
As such specific tasks will include chairing the Finance and General Purpose subcommittee meetings, providing an oversight of management accounts (prepared by the Finance Manager) and the annual audited accounts.
The person we are seeking is likely to have significant experience of the finance function at a senior level in a commercial, public or third sector organisation. Ideally you should hold a professional accountancy qualification (CCAB, CIMA or AAT). Knowledge, experience in caring would be an advantage, however, is not essential.
CSC trustees are all unpaid volunteers, however reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
So, if you are ready to join our dynamic and creative team here at CSC, to help carers get more out of life, please email Deborah Means – Chair of Trustees; firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
