Bristol Home Library Service

All over Bristol there are adults who would like to get out to their local libraries for books and audio books. For a range of reasons they are unable to do this. We are looking for volunteers who would like to help with this. Who are willing to contact someone local to them, visit them regularly, (at least once a month) bring them new books and have time to drop in for a chat.

You may be one of only a few people who visit. You will be a valuable link to their locality and the universe that you can access via books. The Royal Voluntary Service manager will have visited each reader and confirmed that it is an appropriate place to visit.

Because you are visiting people in their own homes, we will need references and a DBS check but this can all be handled online and will cost you nothing. All applications are done via the Royal Voluntary Service website, https://www.royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk/volunteering

Despite what it may say on our website you do not need a driving license.

We have readers waiting all over Bristol, we do not cover South Glos, North Somerset or BANES. We can agreed travel expenses, we also offer training, ongoing support from your local Service Manager and the opportunity to meet up with other volunteers.

If you have any questions about the service or volunteering with us then contact me on 07714 898 558 or via e mail at bhlsvisits@royalvoluntaryservice.org.uk
