FGM affects over 200 million women and girls worldwide. This issue is becoming increasingly relevant to health and social care providers in this country and therefore a good understanding of the practice is important.

We are inviting all social and healthcare professionals including doctors, midwives, nurses, social workers, nursing and medical students to improve their understanding of the medical and psychological implications of FGM, discuss the importance of language used and ensure awareness of their professional legal obligations.
