State of the Sector Survey

This is a time of change for the voluntary, community and social enterprise sector in Bristol. There is less funding available for groups; a proposed shift to commissioning of services; an expectation that we will generate income, and a focus on neighbourhoods. Bristol ChangeUp Consortium wants to find out how groups are affected by these changes and what support you need. We would value a few minutes of your time to help us put together a snap shot of the sector in Bristol, which will help us raise the profile of the sector’s support needs at this time. Please help by completing the questionnaire at: www.survey.bris.ac.uk/voscur/support

Bristol Primary Schools Review

NATIONAL CONSULTATIONS

Entitlement for time off to train

The Department for Innovation, Universities and Skills is consulting on a new statutory right allowing employees to request time off for training that would benefit them and the employer. This new right, to be called time to train, will be similar to the right to request flexible working. It is proposed that the time off would not have to be paid if the training is "off the job" (as opposed to on the job training), and that employers would not be obliged to contribute to the cost of the training. The right would not apply to employees with less than 26 weeks' continuous service with the employer. Consultation documents at www.dius.gov.uk
Closing date 10th September 2008.

National Review of Emotional Health and Wellbeing Services

And development of the Bristol EH&W Strategy for 2009-14

The Department for Children, Schools and Families has launched a national independent Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHR) Review to look at recent progress and recommend further improvements. The review is looking at all services that promote emotional health and well-being or which respond to and meet the mental health needs of children and young people at targeted or specialist levels. A consultation is underway.

Find out more about the review and how to contribute to the consultation by visiting the review's website at www.dfes.gov.uk/CAMHSreview/

Email views to CAMHS.Review@dcsf.gsi.gov.uk; or

Post views to: Department for Children, Schools and Families, Sanctuary Buildings, Great Smith Street, London, SW1P 3BT

The consultation period will run until 4 July 2008.

If you are contributing to the consultation, please send a copy to Sue Topalian ( contact details below) so that your views can also feed into local work on developing a new Emotional Health and Wellbeing Strategy for Bristol children.
